There are still six open seats on the Spring Election Ballot for the Manitowoc County Board.
That’s from the latest candidate tracking report from the Manitowoc County Clerk’s Office before tomorrow’s (January 6th) last day to file for the 2026 Spring General Election.
Seats in Manitowoc County Districts 2, 5, 13, 16, 18, and 19 do not have anyone who has filed to run for the seat as of January 2nd.
Write-ins are still allowed during the election, but the person who gets the most votes must still accept the nomination.
Some other candidates have turned in their paperwork, including Bonnie Shimulunas, who’s running in the 25th District, Don Weiss, who’s the incumbent for the 24th District, and Doug Klein, running in the 23rd.
Other incumbents who have put in paperwork to run again include Paul Hacker, Matthew Phipps, Ken Sitkiewitz, Susie Maresh, Mikey Lillibridge, Larry Bonde, and Dylan Hammel.
Some new candidates seeking a seat on the county board include Christopher Dallas in District 11 and Christopher McDonnell in District 6.
Tyler Martell is also still the only candidate to file for county executive after Bob Ziegelbauer announced he will not seek another term.
If no one else files before the January 6th deadline, Martell will be the only candidate on the ballot.
The 2026 Spring Election will take place on April 7th.
