Lincoln Daniel Thorton
Three area families celebrated the arrival of 2026 with additions to their families.
There were three babies born on New Year’s Day, with the very first being Lincoln Daniel Thorton, who arrived at 2:30 a.m. at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Neenah.
Parents Brook and Luke Thornton of Appleton welcomed their healthy baby boy, who weighed 7 pounds, 10 ounces, and measured 21 inches.
Then, 45 minutes later, Shante and Chris of Manitowoc met their baby girl, Iyahni Rae, at Aurora Medical Center – Manitowoc County.
Iyahni weighed in at 8 pounds 4 ounces and measures 20.5 inches.
Not wanting to be left out of the celebration, Amir Anthony Johnson said hello to the world just before 6:30 a.m., weighing 5 pounds 7 ounces, and measuring 18.5 inches.
His parents, Emily Johnson and Carlos Diggins of Two Rivers, had their little bundle of joy at the Aurora BayCare Medical Center in Green Bay.
Dr. Frank Belmonte, the Senior Vice President, Women and Children’s service line at Advocate Health, says that while every birth is special, “On New Year’s Day, we feel an extra burst of excitement as we join in welcoming the very first babies of the year. Congratulations to the parents, and welcome to the world, little ones!”
