2026 is a banner year for us here at WOMT Radio.
On November 8th, 1926, Francis and Lillian Kadow flipped the switch and officially brought 1240 radio to life in Manitowoc.
The station first broadcast from the Mikadow Theater, hence the call letters, which stand for “World’s Only Mikadow Theatre.”
Since then, WOMT has become the flagship station for Seehafer Broadcasting, which houses six total radio stations: WOMT, WCUB, WLKN, Q102, Hot Country 92.1, and WEMP.
Company Vice President Terry Stevenson is very excited for what the 100th anniversary brings, stating in an open letter to the community, “I can’t help but feel incredibly grateful and humbled. I’m honored to continue my grandfather’s legacy and to help lead WOMT Radio into our next chapter.”
He also noted that there are going to be plenty of celebratory moments throughout the year, including over $50,000 in cash and prizes being given away.
Stevenson added, “For more than a century, WOMT has proudly served our community with trusted news, local sports, and information that matters. As we enter this next chapter, that commitment remains stronger than ever — with new original talk shows, podcasts, and expansions of some of your favorite Seehafer programs planned for 2026. This is more than an anniversary. This is a local legacy.”
