The local gas prices had some highs and lows throughout 2025.
Manitowoc County started the year on a down note, as gas stations celebrated the new year with an 11 jump to a county-wide average of $2.86.
Over the next couple of months, the average would slowly continue to rise to its peak in the first week of April.
Motorists in Manitowoc County were paying $3.22 per gallon at the time, but then the tide turned.
Several weeks of steady declines, with three weeks of 20-cent jumps sprinkled in, brought the average down to $2.81 in the first week of August.
We then saw the biggest leap of the year, jumping 28 cents to $3.09.
It wouldn’t stay bad for long, as Manitowoc County would hit near record lows just seven weeks later when the average plummeted to $2.66 in mid-October.
A 23-cent jump the following week was only a minor setback, as since the first week in November, the prices have been steadily declining, hitting five-year lows and ending 2025 at $2.48.
The average price for 2025 came out to be $2.88, just two cents higher than where we started.
Other counties around us followed similar trends, with Sheboygan County boasting the lowest price of the year of $2.42 last week.
Kewaunee County had the highest price for the year in our area, with gas station signs reading $3.24 in the first week of April.
