A Manitowoc woman arrested on child abuse charges has made her initial appearance.
40-year-old Rebecca Gee appeared in Manitowoc County Court yesterday (December 29th), where she was given a recognizance bond by Court Commissioner Patricia Koppa.
Gee is facing one charge of Physical Abuse of a Child, Intentionally Causing Bodily Harm after being taken into custody on Sunday (December 28th) evening.
The Manitowoc Police Department was made aware of this alleged abuse of a child by a family friend of the 40-year-old.
He told police that Gee would wake up her child by kicking them and would backhand the child if they gave her any attitude.
The man reporting the abuse, along with another individual, supplied multiple videos to authorities, serving as evidence that the Gee did, in fact, physically assault her child on numerous occasions by kicking and striking the child.
When asked about injuries they sustained, the child refused to say anything, while the witness estimated that the abuse had been going on for at least three years.
No additional information was given regarding the amount or conditions of Gee’s bond, and her next court date was not provided.
