A business owner and local politician was forced to resign after a controversy involving Charlie Kirk.
Door County Daily News reports that Chad Kodanko, the co-owner of Husby’s Food and Spirits and a member of the Village of Sister Bay Board, came under fire after he burned a sweatshirt left behind by an employee in front of employees.
The shirt said “freedom” on one side, and the name “Charlie Kirk” on the other.
He eventually apologized for burning the shirt, but not for what the actions meant.
After significant backlash, Kodanko posted on the Husby’s Facebook page, “My goal has never been to divide people, and my actions did that. Due to threats of violence towards our employees and myself, effective immediately, I am stepping away from the business and all of its affairs.”
He also resigned from the Village Board on Monday.
The incident has caught the attention of several prominent politicians, including Representatives Tom Tiffany and Tony Wied, the latter of whom called it “disgusting behavior”.
