A person is in the hospital after falling through thin ice at Lake Mendota.
The Madison Fire Department was called out to the lake near Iota Court on Saturday after the person went into the water.
First responders were able to get the person out and take them to the hospital, but their condition wasn’t released.
The fire department deputy chief noted another person was with the individual at the time, and said that was the right thing to do because of the dangerous conditions.
However, it is recommended that people around the lake use a lifejacket.
