The Ripon Police Department is mourning the passing of a former K9 officer.
K9 Rony served with the department from 2015 through November of 2024, when he was forced to retire due to some health-related setbacks.
In a post on Facebook, the Department noted, “K9 Rony created a bond between community and the police, though not only his great work, but in his interaction with community members, and personalizing the badge…Please keep retired handler, Officer Hanke, and his family in your thoughts and prayers as they mourn the loss of Rony who was part of their family. God Speed “Good Boy!”
