The future home of the Lakeshore Humane Society has been revealed.
The local animal shelter has announced that they will be moving to Two Rivers after officially purchasing the land off of Columbus Street last Wednesday.
The Humane Society was in talks with the City of Manitowoc to build a new facility just north of its current location on North 8th Street.
However, in October, the organization stated that “extenuating circumstances” led to an impasse, and discussions came to an end.
The Lakeshore Humane Society has raised over $2.5 million for the project, which was deemed necessary because the current facility is outdated and insufficient for the number of animals they receive.
Groundbreaking on the new facility is expected in the spring of 2026, with A.C.E. Building Service tasked with the construction.
