Milwaukee County Judge Hannah Dugan is seeking a new trial following her conviction for felony obstruction.
Court filings show Dugan’s attorneys say they plan to ask a federal judge to set aside the jury’s verdict.
The defense argues the jury was improperly instructed, and more legal challenges are expected.
Dugan was found guilty for blocking a federal arrest inside the Milwaukee County Courthouse.
She was previously acquitted of a misdemeanor count of concealing Eduardo Flores-Ruiz, who was wanted by immigration agents.
No sentencing hearing has been scheduled, and a briefing schedule was set at the defense’s request.
