A Fond du Lac man was attacked by several dogs, causing him to fire a gun.
The Fond du Lac Police Department dispatched officers to the 200 block of Gillett Street at 12:30 yesterday afternoon on a report of multiple gunshots.
Using a “controlled tactical response” which included an armored vehicle, officers approached the area and made contact with a 69-year-old Fond du Lac man.
The unnamed individual was taken into protective custody, which is when investigators learned the man had been attacked by multiple dogs that had escaped a fenced yard.
The man sustained multiple bites and discharged his firearm to protect himself from further injury.
No other humans or any of the canines were injured, and there is no additional threat to the public.
The dogs’ owner was located, but it is not clear if any charges were filed or what will happen to the dogs.
The incident remains under investigation, and no additional information is being released at this time.
