
The Manitowoc Lutheran girls’ basketball team looks to improve to 7-1 as they take a trip to Wrightstown for a non-conference game against the Tigers.
These once-upon-a-time Olympian conference foes meet with both teams coming in above .500.
The Lancers are led by senior guard Makiah Krause, who’s averaging nearly 18 points and 2.5 assists per-game. Also, senior Marissa Melhorn is scoring better than 14 points and grabbing nearly 10 rebounds per game, while senior Lilly Melhorn leads the Lancers in assists at nearly 3.5 per contest.
Wrightstown of the Northeast Conference comes in with a record of 4-3 and is led by senior Ella Verbeten. She’s averaging just about 14 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists per contest.
The Lancers have a decided edge in nearly every statistical category except at the free-throw line. The Tigers shoot an exceptional 73 percent from the charity stripe, while the Lancers are just below 45 percent for the year.
Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
Other girls’ games include Kiel hosting Grafton, Menasha travels to Kewaunee, Hilbert is home for New Holstein as part of a girl-boy doubleheader, Plymouth ventures to Cedar Grove/Belgium, and Seymour is at Ashwaubenon as part of a girl-boy doubleheader.
Meanwhile, the Roncalli boys’ basketball team continues to play in the Oshkosh Loudes Holiday Tournament in Oshkosh.
Other boys’ games have New Holstein at Hilbert as part of a boy-girl doubleheader, Ashwaubenon is hosting Seymour in another boy-girl doubleheader, Green Bay East ventures to Green Bay Southwest, and Kewaunee travels to Wrightstown to battle the Tigers.
