A new youth prison in Fitchburg is getting approval.
The facility, which was passed unanimously, will be built near the border with Oregon and partially replace Lincoln Hills.
It will come complete with a garden, chicken coop, and orchard. Officials noted it will accommodate 40 juveniles, including 32 males and eight females.
Fitchburg Alder Gabriella Gerhardt told WKOW the new facility allows the kids to be closer to their families and get more regular interaction.
