A man accused of a deadly shooting near UW-Whitewater is heading to trial.
Chad Richards was in Walworth County court yesterday as he faces a charge of first-degree intentional homicide in the death of Kara Welsh.
The 23-year-old is accused of shooting and killing Welsh following an argument at an off-campus apartment in August, 2024.
Welsh was involved in gymnastics at UW-Whitewater and police say the two were dating at the time.
Richards is scheduled to start trial in June.
