A Manitowoc County jury will convene today to decide the guilt or innocence of an Indianapolis man charged in an attempted homicide case.
Prosecutors rested yesterday in the trial of 61-year-old Clarance Holder after calling a final witness yesterday afternoon (December 17th).
The defense did not call any witnesses and also rested.
Holder decided not to testify on his behalf either.
Witnesses during the trial included Manitowoc Police Officers who investigated the incident, along with DNA and cellphone data experts and the victim himself, identified in court as Devin Lawler.
Manitowoc County District Attorney Jacalyn LaBre and Holder’s Attorney Russell Jones will have their closing arguments this morning (December 18th) before the jury decides if the 61-year-old is guilty of four crimes he’s been charged with.
They include attempted 1st-degree intentional homicide, attempted armed robbery with a dangerous weapon, burglary, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Holder allegedly acted as a delivery driver and tried to get Lawler to sign a FedEx envelope that was purchased in Milwaukee.
As the two walked up to the victim’s apartment, Lawler testified that he was shot and then fought to get away before hiding in a forested area.
