Senate Majority Leader Devin LeMahieu has announced that the Senate has opened an investigation into the Department of Justice.
The Senate Committee on Organisation has created the Special Committee on Oversight of the Department of Justice, which will look into the operations, priorities, and external influences affecting the DOJ.
The Senator from Oostburg noted in the announcement that the investigation is all about transparency and accountability, adding, “This special committee will ensure that the Department of Justice, an agency created and funded by the Legislature, is operating within its statutory authority and serving the public interest—not the agenda of third parties or outside organisations.”
Senate President Mary Felzkowski of Tomahawk is serving as the Chair of the Committee, while Mosinee Senator Cory Tomczyk is the Vice Chair, and Senators André Jacque of New Franken and Eric Wimberger of Oconto are serving as members.
There are still two vacant spots on the Committee, which will be filled at the recommendation of Senate Majority Leader LeMahieu.
