A Fond du Lac man is heading to prison for his role in a 2024 fatal stabbing.
23-year-old Dawson Miller was present in Fond du Lac County court yesterday (December 15th) for his sentencing hearing after being found guilty of being a Party to Felony Murder due to a no-contest plea in September.
At yesterday’s hearing, Judge Tricia Walker sentenced Miller to spend 30 years in prison and 15 years on extended supervision for the part he played in the fatal stabbing of Ashley Calo.
Authorities say that Calo was stabbed inside her own vehicle multiple times by 22-year-old Annaka Trudell during a drug deal while Calo’s 3-year-old child was in the backseat.
Police also say that the duo conspired to set up this drug deal not to buy drugs from Calo but rather to steal them, with Miller telling Trudell to bring a knife along for protection.
After stabbing Calo, Trudell received help from Miller to avoid arrest; however, the two were later taken into custody near West Bend.
Originally, Miller faced additional charges, including harboring or aiding a felon for helping Trudell evade detection; however, all other charges were dismissed.
Trudell has since pleaded no contest to First-Degree Reckless Homicide and Armed Robbery with the Use of Force after accepting a plea deal which saw her convicted of the lesser charge despite originally facing a First-Degree Intentional Homicide charge.
No sentencing hearing for the 22-year-old has been scheduled as of yet, as the court was waiting for Miller’s sentence to be ordered.
