Five Green Bay residents are without a home following a fire Monday morning (December 15th).
The Green Bay Metro Fire Department was dispatched to the 800 block of Nicolet Avenue just before noon on a report of a structure fire.
It was first reported that a light fixture was smoking, but by the time crews arrived, the flames had spread into the home.
This caused fire crews to open walls, as well as the ceiling and flooring, to ensure the blaze was completely extinguished.
Fire Marshals were called in to investigate the cause, which was determined to have been the careless use of smoking materials.
All five residents were uninjured but are displaced.
They are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
The fire was estimated to have caused around $10,000 in damage.
