Two of the top girls’ basketball teams in northeast Wisconsin square off tonight as Manitowoc Lutheran hosts Howards Grove at Lancer Circle.
The Lancers are tied for second place with Reedsville in the Big East North Division with a 2-1 record and 5-1 overall, splitting a pair of games last week.
They suffered their first loss of the season last Monday night in Fox Crossing to undefeated St. Mary Catholic, then bounced back to roll Mishicot 72-34 on Thursday night.
Manitowoc Lutheran has been led by seniors Makiah Krause and Marissa Melhorn, who are the top scorers for the Lancers through six games, while Melhorn leads the Lancers in rebounding.
The Tigers are 1-1 in the Big East and 6-1 on the year, with both teams suffering their first conference loss of the season at the hands of the Zephyrs last week.
This is the first of two meetings between these schools, with the Lancers winning both matchups last season.
The junior varsity game is scheduled to start at 5:45 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 7:15 p.m.
Also, in the Big East North, undefeated St. Mary Catholic hosts the Mishicot Indians.
