A former Mishicot High School Gym teacher accused of having a sexual relationship with a student has been denied a motion to suppress evidence in the case against him.
37-year-old Ryan Schroeder is facing multiple charges that include repeated sexual assault of the same child, second-degree sexual assault of a child, and ten counts of possession of child pornography.
He is also facing two federal charges of Production of Child Pornography.
Schroeder had requested that statements he made during a pre-arrest interview and phone materials be suppressed.
However, a federal judge ruled that the detective had acted reasonably in putting the phone in airplane mode and interviewing him at the school.
Schroeder was arrested in April and accused of having a two-year relationship with the student when she was 14 years old.
The Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office says Schroeder had sex with the student over 50 times, with ten of those incidents reportedly having occurred at Mishicot High School.
He is due back in Manitowoc County Circuit Court Judge Mark Rohrer’s courtroom for a motion hearing on January 9th.
