The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration is warning Eastern Wisconsin residents to be careful today as temperatures are set to hit frigid levels.
The high temperature for the day in Manitowoc County is at 4 degrees, but due to wind speeds of around 15 MPH and gusts up to 30 MPH, the wind chill values are expected to get as low as 35 degrees below zero.
NOAA notes this could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes and hypothermia with prolonged exposure.
Due to the extreme cold, the Town of Liberty and Town of Newton recycling centers are closed today, and the Collins Marsh Kids Day has been cancelled.
