The City of Kiel has officially accepted the resignation of a now former council member.
Kathy Schuette submitted her resignation during the city’s Committee of the Whole meeting earlier this month.
Still, it was officially accepted by a roll-call vote of the city council at their Tuesday meeting.
The council also voted unanimously not to fill the position and wait until the April 2026 Spring Election to allow the residents of Kiel’s 4th aldermanic district to choose who they want to represent them.
After a discussion about how many people would make a quorum, the council nominated 5th District Alderman Bill Krueger to be on the city’s plan commission until the April election.
Schuette’s husband was ticketed for littering after dog waste ended up on a local business’s porch multiple times.
She claimed innocence about the incident that occurred when she left the council meeting at the beginning of the month.
