The Two Rivers Police Department has arrested a convicted sex offender who was released earlier this year.
Officers were dispatched to the Lakeview Motel on Memorial Drive on Monday to investigate a report of a registered sex offender who was violating the conditions of his supervision.
They located 36-year-old Ronald L. Cox and confirmed that he had been using social media and online communications, a direct violation of his conditions.
Cox has a history of sexual crimes, including 2017 convictions on charges of 3rd Degree Sexual Assault, Battery, Having Sex with a Child 16 or Older, and two counts of Possession of Child Pornography.
In September of 2018, Cox was ordered by Judge Mark Rohrer to spend a total of 8 years in prison and 12 years on extended supervision, but he was released from prison in February of this year after seven years served.
Charges are expected to be filed, but the investigation is still ongoing. The Two Rivers Police Department is reminding the community, “Communicating with strangers online carries real risks. Always verify identities, avoid sharing personal information, and report suspicious behavior. Staying cautious and aware helps protect both individuals and the broader community.”
