Kiel’s now former city administrator is saying thank you to the residents he served for the last year and a half.
Dave Funkhouser’s last day on the job was December 5th, and in a post on the city’s Facebook page, he expressed his deepest gratitude to the Kiel Community for its support and kindness throughout his tenure.
He also thanked his fellow city employees for their dedication and hard work, which went above what was required of them.
He also gave a special thanks to former Kiel Mayor Mike Steinhardt and Current Mayor Bob Hennings for their guidance, support, and true spirit of collaboration they shared during his service as city administrator.
Funkhouser finishes by saying that he loves Kiel and that it’s been his honor to serve the community in multiple roles for the better part of 20 years.
His resignation from the job didn’t come without some comments to the council, saying that they should look inward after what he called, at times, an unwelcoming work environment.
Ryan Pafford will take over as Kiel’s next city administrator after he was appointed by the council last month. He retired as the fire chief from the City of Plymouth.
