A Two Rivers veterans group will be participating in Wreaths Across America for the first time this month.
The Robert E Burns American Legion Auxiliary Unit 165 will be out at Holy Cross Cemetery on Saturday, December 13th, to recognize the sacrifice and dedication shown by our nation’s veterans.
Wreaths Across America was founded in 2007 by Morrill and Karen Worcester to bring the wreath ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery to grave sites around the country.
The event has grown from a modest 300 locations in 2008 to over 4,900 locations, four million volunteers, and countless wreaths being placed on the final resting places of military veterans from coast to coast.
The event at Holy Cross Cemetery will begin at 10:00 a.m., with several public officials and American Legion officials set to make comments.
Volunteers will begin laying the wreaths at 10:20 a.m. It is estimated that 1,445 veterans are buried in Two Rivers between Holy Cross and Pioneer Rest Cemeteries.
