A Manitowoc man is facing charges after being caught with child pornography.
The Manitowoc Police Department received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children on October 27th reporting a Snapchat account that was involved in the distribution of child sexual abuse material.
The IP address linked to the account led investigators to a man who resides on South 29th Street in Manitowoc and has a previous conviction for Possession of Child Pornography by a Person Under the Age of 18.
The 21-year-old man was sentenced in 2024 to four years of probation in that case.
A records request was sent to Snap Inc., the owners of the app, which uncovered eight separate files determined to have been child sexual abuse material.
When confronted by police, the man admitted to chatting with minor females on the app, and a search of his phone uncovered two videos of said victims.
The man was arrested on ten counts of Possession of Child Pornography and eight counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Child.
