The executive director of Old Glory Honor Flight is recovering after a sudden health scare.
The organization that has touched the lives of thousands of veterans announced that Diane MacDonald went in for a planned hip replacement surgery last week, and while she was beginning her recovery, she developed a severe headache and unrelenting nausea.
A CT and MRI were ordered, which showed a meningioma brain tumor. A second surgery was quickly performed, and six hours later, MacDonald is now recovering.
It is not clear at this time if the tumor was benign, but MacDonald explained on her personal Facebook page that there was an 85% chance that is the case.
She also stated, “I appreciate your prayers and positive energy. I love you all.”
Old Glory Honor Flight noted that their programming efforts will continue uninterrupted as MacDonald recovers, adding “Diane’s health is of critical importance to us, but so is the mission of serving our veteran communities.”
