Ellen Marie Peters, 88, of Manitowoc died Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at Aurora Medical Center Manitowoc County.
Ellen was born on April 3, 1937 in Two Rivers, daughter of the late Vilas and Modesta (Schesta) Hoffman. Ellen attended Washington High School in Two Rivers. On June 12, 1954, she married Robert Joseph Peters of Manitowoc. He preceded her in death on April 13, 2016.
Ellen was an outdoor enthusiast. In her younger years she enjoyed swimming, cross country skiing, biking and walking in the woods. Later in life she spent time on her front porch getting fresh air, always reading a book, magazine or newspaper and greeting her neighbors, and dogs with their walker.
One of Ellen’s greatest joys was going to church and bible study. She had a personal relationship with Jesus and wanted others to know him as well. Everyone she knew or met got an invitation to come to church with her.
She will be greatly missed by all for her cheerful, positive personality, her unconditional love and acceptance for others, her generous and selfless nature and her love for all things beautiful, whether that be her family and friends, cute puppy pictures or an amazing sunset.
Ellen is survived by her children: Wayne (Julie) Peters, FL, Dan (Sharla) Peters, New London, and Connie (Thom) Gagne, Chicago; daughter-in-law: Sue Peters, Manitowoc; nine grandchildren: 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Candice Krueger, Larabee, and Pauline (Bill) Blashka, Sheboygan; and three brothers and sisters-in-law: James (JoAnn) Hoffman, Manitowoc, Jerome (Rita) Hoffman, Mishicot, and Martin (Mary) Hoffman, Manitowoc.
