Wisconsin Public Service wants to help residents keep their energy bills down this holiday season.
There is a holiday lighting cost calculator at WisconsinPublicService.com/Savings, which allows residents to compare their options this season and get an idea of what to expect on their energy bill.
They also suggest replacing old incandescent strand lights with higher efficiency LED lights and putting lighting displays on a timer to ensure they are only on when intended.
There are also ways to keep the home lit up without using as many strands of lights.
For example, WPS suggests using tinsel, mirrored ornaments, and other reflective items on your tree, or use festive flood lights outside instead of multiple strands of lights.
They are also reminding residents to inspect their strands of lights, throw away any that are damaged, and never overload their outlets or string too many lights together.
