There were slightly fewer deer collected during the day gun deer season in Manitowoc County this year.
The DNR reports that a total of 2,113 deer were harvested locally, which is a 1.4% decrease from last year’s total of 2,144.
Of the deer collected this year, 973 were antlered, leaving 1,140 non-antlered. This year’s totals were also down from the 2020-2024 average of 2,192.
Sheboygan County saw a similar trend, with the 1,630 deer harvested this year down 8.1% from the 2024 total of 1,774, and 7.3% down from the 5-year average of 1,759.
The state totals came in at 182,084 deer harvested, down slightly from last year’s 183,532, and the 5-year average of 184,811.
