The Manitowoc United hockey team will be in front of a home crowd tonight for the first time.
The home opener for the squad, comprised of players from Manitowoc Lincoln, Lutheran, Roncalli, Valders, Two Rivers, and Mishicot, will square off against Shawano at 5:30 p.m. at the Manitowoc County Ice Center, on a night they are also hosting a benefit for the parents of one of the players.
Claudia Klein, the mother of Defenseman David Klein, is battling Non-Smoker’s Lung Cancer and was recently accepted into a clinical trial.
The team will be accepting donations and will have 50/50 raffles, raffle baskets, and more to honor Claudia in her battle.
The JV will then face Fond du Lac at 7:30 p.m. All who attend are asked to wear white in honor of Claudia.
