If you are looking to get rid of old Christmas lights, the Manitowoc County Recycling Center is looking to help.
With the holiday season in full swing, the Recycling Center will once again be accepting old or broken string lights free of charge.
Whether you are replacing lights that do not work or upgrading from old, inefficient lights to LEDs, they can be brought to the Recycling Center at 3000 Basswood Road in Manitowoc for disposal anytime between 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8:00 a.m. to noon on Saturdays.
They will also be accepting extension chords free of charge; however, other holiday decorations such as garland, wreaths, trees, and other lighted decorations will not be accepted.
Normal light bulbs, including spot lights, compact fluorescents, fluorescent tubes, and incandescent bulbs, can be recycled, but standard fees will still apply.
Since the Manitowoc County Christmas lights recycling program’s inception in 2015, over 10,600 pounds have been collected.
