Anyone with shredded cheese in their fridge is encouraged to see if it is a part of a massive recall.
The Food and Drug Administration has recalled more than 260,000 cases of shredded cheese products sold in 31 states, including Wisconsin, due to a potential metal fragment contamination.
The products in question were made under the Great Lakes Cheese Company banner, but have been sold under private store brand labels at stores like Target, Walmart, and Aldi.
This recall includes packages of low moisture mozzarella, several cheese blends, and provolone, with the most affected being the low moisture mozzarella with over 235,000 cases.
Anyone with the cheese in question is encouraged to return it to the point of purchase or throw it out.
