The man charged in a hit-and-run that claimed the life of a retired Green Bay police detective will be heading to trial.
Obilio Tomas Sargento Roblero was in court on Tuesday for his preliminary hearing in Oconto County, where the 32-year-old was bound over for trial.
In a legal setting, being bound over for trial means the judge has determined there is enough evidence, or probable cause, to proceed with a felony case.
Sargento Roblero is facing a charge of Hit and Run Causing Death for the incident that occurred on October 25th, 2024.
Detective Tom Roberts was said to be assisting a fellow UTV driver when he was struck by Sargento Roblero, who was behind the wheel of an SUV.
He has maintained his innocence, claiming he swerved to miss a deer, and did not see the UTVs on the side of the road because their headlights were not on.
He is being held in the Oconto County Jail on a $1 million cash bond.
