A man facing charges in the death of a 2-year-old boy in Green Bay will not get his bond reduced.
WBAY reports that James Vanderleest was back in Brown County court for a bail hearing, where his lawyer requested that the bail be lowered from $2 million to $250,000.
However, Judge Samantha Wagner denied the modification for the 22-year-old, who faces charges of 1st-degree reckless homicide, resisting or obstructing an officer, four counts of felony bail jumping, and two counts of misdemeanor bail jumping.
James and his father, David Vanderleest, were arrested in Florence County after the death of Leo Escalante in Green Bay.
A criminal complaint says Green Bay Police were called to a residence after it was reported that the 2-year-old suffered life-threatening injuries from falling down the stairs.
Escalante would later pass away.
Bond for David Vanderleest was reduced in July this year, but he’s charged with harboring or aiding a fugitive and obstructing an officer.
