A teenager from Oshkosh has been convicted for a 2024 fatal shooting.
Court records show that 18-year-old Daniel T. Wilson was in Winnebago County court on Monday (November 24th) for a plea hearing as he faced charges of First-Degree Intentional Homicide and Misdemeanor Bail Jumping.
However, at that hearing, Wilson and his legal counsel accepted a plea deal, which saw him convicted of a lesser First-Degree Reckless Homicide charge due to a no-contest plea.
This plea deal comes in relation to the killing of an unnamed teenage victim on July 2nd, 2024.
Officers arrived in the 1000 block of Wisconsin Street at 11:30 that evening to find a man lying on the ground with a gunshot wound.
Despite lifesaving efforts, the teenager was pronounced dead on the scene.
Witness interviews and the subsequent investigation led Oshkosh Police to Wilson, who was later arrested and charged.
The 18-year-old will next be back inside a Winnebago County courtroom on February 18th at 8:30 a.m. for a sentencing hearing.
