This holiday season, Gov. Tony Evers and the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) are urging everyone to shop small.
November 29th through December 1st has been declared “Shop Small Season” in Wisconsin, where shoppers are encouraged to visit the local shops and businesses in their community.
WEDC Deputy Secretary and Chief Operating Officer Sam Rikkers says that shopping locally during the holiday season is important because “the weeks leading up to the holidays are often the time of year when these businesses see the biggest financial impact.”
Studies have shown that for every $100 spent at a local business, $68 typically stays in the community, while only $43 remains when spent at a national chain store.
