A decision has been made on the Maritime Metro Transit Bus Route in Two Rivers.
The City Council discussed MMT Route 1 during Monday’s meeting after hearing input from the public.
By the end of the conversation, it was determined that Route 1 service will continue in 2026, but the City will continue searching for new ways to fund it.
City Manager Kyle Kordell tells SeehaferNews.com, “The City will be engaging with other community partners who rely on this route, with the hope that they can share in funding the service, so TR property tax payers don’t shoulder these increases.”
There has been an over 44% increase in costs related to the route over the past five years, which Kordell says is not sustainable.
Kordell also stated, “The City of Two Rivers remains committed to maintaining this important connection for our residents, while also strengthening the financial sustainability of the service.”
