A local community organization is looking to move.
The Manitowoc Common Council approved rezoning a home in the 1000 block of Memorial Drive to business use, as the Lakeshore Community Foundation wants to purchase the house to turn it into a new office.
Currently, they are inside the West Foundation’s Building, in the West of the Lake Gardens.
There will be five employees at the location, with no significant changes expected to the building’s exterior.
Lakeshore Community Foundation members say their board meetings are held off-site and that the future office will have a limited number of visitors.
During Manitowoc’s October Plan Commission meeting, one person was concerned not about what the foundation does but about how big it could get.
Lakeshore Community Foundation Member Rachel Weigert said there might be some minor improvements, but the building itself would remain the same.
According to their website, the foundation’s job is to gather, grow, and give endowed charitable financial resources to build stronger, more vibrant communities now and into the future.
