
The 48th Annual WIAA State Football Championships begin this morning at Barry Alvarez Field at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison.
The Division Seven title game features a pair of undefeated teams as Cochrane-Fountain City battles Kenosha St. Joseph.
Cochrane-Fountain City is making their first trip to Madison after a thrilling 17-14 double overtime victory over Lourdes Academy of Oshkosh in last Friday’s semifinal in Wisconsin Rapids.
The Pirates take on a Lancer team returning to the big dance for the first time when they finished runners-up in Division five back in 2001.
Kickoff is scheduled for 10:00 a.m.
In Division Six, it’s two more unbeatens going at it when perennial powers Darlington and Edgar meet.
Darlington defeated Manitowoc Lutheran in the semifinals last Friday night in Waukesha, while Edgar, the defending two-time state champions in division seven, punched their ticket to Madison by defeating Mondovi 21-14.
Game time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
The Division Five final has 13-0 Mayville tangling with undefeated Northwestern.
Mayville’s last trip to state was in 2022, while Northwestern plays in Madison for the first time in 32 years.
Kick off for that matchup is slated for 4:00 p.m.
The Division Four title tilt is a rematch of a week one regular season matchup as 12-1 Little Chute meets unbeaten Winneconne.
Winneconne won that game 14-6.
Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
