A former Green Bay Area School District board member charged with misrepresenting where he lived had his first day in court.
FOX11 reports that 45-year-old Kou Lee was given a $10,000 signature bond and will be back in court for a preliminary hearing in December.
Lee faces felony charges of election fraud and false swearing in a government setting after he resigned from the school board back in May.
An article published by the Green Bay Press-Gazette showed that Lee may not have been living in the school district at the time or when he campaigned and won a seat on the board in 2024.
Lee had been living in Green Bay for several months, but property records showed he had a home in Hobart, which is outside of the district’s boundary and would not allow him to be a school board member in the GBAPS.
A primary tax credit was submitted as evidence by prosecutors, saying that it’s only used for primary residences.
A new person has been appointed to the Green Bay Public School District’s board to fill the rest of Lee’s term.
