Wisconsin’s Safe Drinking Water Loan Program monies will be coming to some cities on the lakeshore.
Governor Tony Evers’ office announced that the City of Two Rivers will be getting a $1.1 million loan from the state to replace water mains on Lincoln Avenue and Woodlawn Drive.
In comparison, the City of Sheboygan will receive a loan of about $4.2 million to reconstruct a filter at the city’s water treatment plant and make building improvements.
In the City of Kewaunee, they will receive two loans totaling about $1.2 million and $313,000, respectively, to replace water mains on both Dodge Street and Main Street.
These communities are just some of the 74 municipalities across the state getting the loans to help improve drinking water quality.
The Safe Drinking Water Loan Program began in 1998 and is administered by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and the Wisconsin Department of Administration.
Since its launch, $1.5 billion in financial assistance has been given to communities across the state.
