A local official has confirmed that one of the big blue cranes built in Manitowoc will be leaving today (November 18th).
Mayor Justin Nickels says on his Manitowoc Mayor Facebook page that one of the cranes will leave at 7:00 a.m.
Which numbered crane was not announced, but it will be pulled through the Manitowoc River via tugboat before it’s taken into Lake Michigan to its new destination.
Nickels says there are plenty of spots along the rivers to see the crane make its grand exit.
The mayor reminds residents that the weather could change what’s happening.
Wisconsin Heavy Fabrications built the blue cranes and has been waiting to ship them to their new homes in either Washington State or Hawaii.
