
Evacuation operations are underway after a gas line explosion in Sheboygan County.
WBAY reports that the Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Office received calls at approximately 1:15 p.m. today (November 14th) regarding an explosion on Trio Lane in the Town of Mitchell.
Arriving deputies quickly discovered that an excavation crew had ruptured a natural gas line, which initiated the reported explosion.
In total, five individuals were taken to the hospital; however, the severity of their injuries is unknown.
A three-mile evacuation radius has been set up surrounding the Trio Lane explosion, with local fire departments and first responders working to get residents out safely while simultaneously working to stop the leak.
Approximately 60 homes were required to be evacuated, and currently, it is unknown when they will be able to return.
