State officials are offering a free online tax-filing tool for the 2025 filing season.
Starting in February, the state’s Department of Revenue will roll out its WisTax program to streamline state returns.
This comes after the IRS ended its Direct File program.
WisTax aims to simplify filing and helps veterans and surviving spouses claim the property tax credit.
The program has no income limit, but requires users to have filed a Wisconsin return in the last five years, hold a valid state ID, and have lived in the state for at least one year.
