The City of Kiel has set aside money for the group that helped construct a new building in City Park.
The city council approved a payment of $5,000 to the Kiel Community Picnic group to offset the costs of a new metal roof for the building.
City Administrator Dave Funkhouser says the city requested that they put it on the metal roof, and the group asked if the city could help them offset the costs because the roof cost more than expected.
After Kiel got its capital accounts in order, funding is available to help the Kiel Community Picnic group.
The city council unanimously approved the payment.
The picnic gets underway in August every year and is presented by the Kiel Optimist Club and Kiel Lions Club. It includes a carnival with rides, food, and music.
There is also a parade that goes through downtown, put on by the Kiel Association of Commerce.
