A domestic incident in Door County escalated to the point that an individual was stabbed in the neck.
The Door County Sheriff’s Office was called to a home in the 6000 block of County Road C in the Town of Nasewaupee to investigate a reported attack.
When deputies and EMTs arrived, they located an individual with a stab wound in the neck, which was bleeding heavily.
Aid was rendered, and those living in the area were ordered to shelter in place using the Integrated Public Alert and Warning System, better known as IPAWS.
The alert was accidentally sent to individuals outside the intended area because, as the Door County Emergency Management team explained, “IPAWS messages are transmitted through local cell towers, and coverage can overlap into surrounding areas.”
The suspect has since been identified, and there is no ongoing threat to the public.
The incident remains under investigation and no further information is being released at this time.
