For a third year in a row, the Manitowoc Public School District has room for improvement, according to the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.
In their annual state report card, the district announced it received a rating of “Meets Few Expectations.”
Within the district, Madison and Riverview Elementary Schools earned “Exceeds Expectations” ratings, while Franklin, Jackson, Monroe, and Wilson Middle Schools earned the “Meets Expectations” rating.
However, Jefferson Elementary, Washington Middle School, and Lincoln High School were rated “Meets Few Expectations,” while McKinley Academy received a rating of “Fails to Meet Expectations.”
Despite the rating, Superintendent Lee Thennes says he’s proud of the growth and effort across all the schools, explaining, “Our work is centered on continuous improvement and ensuring every student has the support and opportunities they need to succeed. We are committed to raising our ratings and improving outcomes in the next report card.”
MPSD has also adopted a Strategic Vision focused on student achievement, engagement, and organizational skills.
District teams can continuously track the vision to review academic and engagement data.
