Three Appleton residents have been arrested for their treatment of a 14-year-old girl.
FOX11 reports that Walter Goodman, Savanna LeFever, and Kayla Stemler were arrested on Monday (November 10th) on multiple counts of child neglect.
Goodman, who is the father of the victim, called 911 to report his daughter was “almost comatose.”
The first officer on the scene reported that they thought the girl was only 6 to 8 years old, as she was severely malnourished, weighing less than 40 pounds.
The child was said to be close to death. The teen was taken to a local hospital, where she showed signs of respiratory failure, cardiac dysfunction, severe acute hepatitis, and pancreatitis.
Goodman claimed that they would make meals for the girl, who is said to be autistic, but she wouldn’t eat.
However, the nurse claimed the girl’s eyes “lit up” when she learned of the food options at the hospital.
Court Commissioner Brian Figy called the situation a “house of horrors” before setting bond at $150,000 cash for Goodman and Stemler, and $100,000 cash for LeFever.
Goodman’s wife and a 15-year-old boy also living in the home were not charged.
