Today, we honor those who signed on the dotted line and risked their safety and well-being for their fellow Americans.
The origins of Veterans’ Day date back to the wake of WWI, a conflict that took the lives of 16 million men, women, and children.
Then President Woodrow Wilson declared at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, that this day would be known as Armistice Day, marking the end of “The War to End All Wars.”
The legal holiday known as Armistice Day was established in 1938, but the name was changed to Veterans’ Day in 1954.
The date of the holiday has moved around throughout the years, but since 1978, it has been celebrated on November 11th.
It has since become tradition for businesses to offer discounts or additional services for the men and women who served our country.
